PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT 9-2-26                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                            BATES-AMASA RD./ PAINT RIVER BRIDGE

Due to the results of the latest bridge inspection and load-capacity calculations, Special overweight loads will no longer be "permitted" to cross the Bates Amasa Road – Paint River Bridge.

New allowable load limits will be posted on the bridge. The maximum allowable loads will be:

  • 42 tons
  • 64 tons
  • 75 tons

The applicable load limit will depend on the number of axles and the spacing between axles.  Exceeding posted bridge weight limitations is a civil infraction carrying fines scaled by the number of overweight pounds (ranging from 4 cents to 10 cents per excess pound)

Please observe the posted weight limits to ensure the safety and continued use of the bridge.

 Thank you for your cooperation.
